The brief: after a few straight copy projects, digital transformation agency Deeson brought me in to develop their tone of voice. They wanted to help their teams feel confident writing copy anywhere, so I worked on tonal guidelines, a content playbook and some branding copy they could use across their business.
The idea: as a sprawling business with highly technical subject matter and lots of different voices, the key here was to gather as much information as possible before making any decisions. I workshopped with the team for an afternoon, asking lots of questions, encouraging discussion and understanding where their challenges came from. Then I went away to create a content plan and example copy for their brand book before embarking on a full write-up.
